The Community
At Christ Church Pitsmore, we believe community is built around shared time together. That’s why we run and host a wide variety of events, groups and meals, from regular weekly gatherings to one-off celebrations. What to expect
The service is usually about 1 hour long, followed by refreshments. Each week is slightly different, but we always spend some time singing together, and thinking about what it means to follow Jesus.
Children
We have several Children are welcome at our services. Babies and toddlers are welcome throughout the service (we have toys available) and there is a group for school age children most weeks.different mid-week groups to help and encourage us on our faith journey together.
Accessibility
Our main church building is wheelchair accessible, and we have an accessible toilet. We have a hearing loop, and the words for our services are visible on our projector screens.
History
Many men from the parishes lost their lives during the First World War, our war memorial contains over 300 names of the fallen.
During the second world war the parish was heavily bombed and ninety people lost their lives.
After the war the area was heavily redeveloped with high rise flats and maisonettes. These have mostly now disappeared. Over the years, the community has become more diverse, welcoming people from many nations.
Christ Church, along with our Diocese, is actively involved in re-imagining the church for the 21st Century and increasingly is working in partnership with others.
We don’t yet know what church will look like in the future. We’re sure it will be very different from the church our ancestors knew. We are also convinced that somehow past and future must be brought together so that as a community we remain rooted in the Christian story while also connecting with ordinary people and inspiring them for life in the modern world.

Working together to learn, grow and serve
We’re an Anglican Parish Church based a mile north of Sheffield city centre, part of the vibrant community of Pitsmoor. The area is hugely diverse and this is reflected in the life of Christ Church – we’re a church of all ages and multiple cultures. We have a wide range of ways that we express our Christian faith – but we work together to learn, grow and serve.
